Shipping policy

Operating out of Menlopark, Pretoria, we want to ensure your custom 3D-printed lamps and accessories reach you safely and efficiently. Here is exactly how our production and shipping processes work.

Production Time

  • Made to Order: All products sold by FEM Ateljee are custom 3D-printed and made to order directly from our Menlo Park studio.

  • Individual Attention: Each item is individually printed, finished, and assembled once an order has been confirmed.

  • Lead Times: Production typically takes 3–5 business days, depending on order volume and product complexity.

  • Quality First: Orders will only move to the shipping stage once the printing, strict quality inspection, and assembly process have been fully completed.

Order Processing

  • Preparation: Once a product has been completed, it will be carefully inspected and securely packaged for shipment.

  • Dispatch Window: Orders are typically prepared for dispatch within 1 business day after production is complete, depending on daily courier collection schedules.

  • Tracking: Customers will receive a shipping confirmation email along with tracking information as soon as the order has been dispatched.

Weekend & Public Holiday Dispatch

  • Transit Protection: To protect our 3D-printed products during transit, FEM Ateljee does not dispatch orders on weekends or South African public holidays.

  • Minimising Risk: This prevents packages from sitting in courier depots or delivery vehicles for extended periods, significantly reducing the risk of damage.

  • End-of-Week Orders: Orders completed towards the end of the week will safely remain with us and be dispatched on the next available business day.

Delivery Timeframes

Once an order has left our Menlo Park premises, estimated delivery times within South Africa are generally the following:

  • 1–2 business days for local (Pretoria/Gauteng) or major metropolitan areas.

  • 2–4 business days for regional areas or other provinces.

  • Note: These delivery times are estimates only and may vary depending on third-party courier operations and your exact location.

Courier Responsibility

  • Handover: Once an order has been handed over to the courier service, delivery handling and transit timeframes fall under the responsibility of that courier provider.

  • Secure Packaging: While FEM Ateljee ensures that all items are rigorously and securely packaged, we cannot control courier handling or unforeseen delays once the parcel has been dispatched.

Proof of Delivery

  • Tracked Shipments: All orders shipped by FEM Ateljee are sent using reliable courier services that provide tracking and proof of delivery.

  • Delivery Confirmation: Once a shipment has been marked as delivered by the courier provider (via delivery confirmation, signature, or a delivery photo), the order is considered successfully delivered.

  • Discrepancies: If you believe a package has been delivered incorrectly, you must notify FEM Ateljee within 24 hours so that we can assist in opening an investigation with the courier company.

  • Liability: While we will assist in resolving courier-related issues to the best of our ability, FEM Ateljee cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen packages once delivery has been officially confirmed by the courier service.

  • Secure Locations: We strongly encourage customers to ensure that the delivery address provided is secure and accessible at the time of delivery.

Inspection on Delivery

  • Immediate Check: Customers are encouraged to open and inspect their package immediately upon delivery.

  • Reporting Damage: Any visible damage or issues must be reported to FEM Ateljee within 24–48 hours of receiving the parcel so that the matter can be swiftly investigated with the courier service, if necessary.
